Longtemps considéré comme une créature primitive, l’homme de Néandertal est aujourd’hui reconnu comme un humain à part entière. Loin des images d’Épinal auxquelles nous avons tous été confrontés, «Néandertal: l’expo» nous présente une espèce plus proche de nous qu’on l’imagine. «Néandertal n’était ni supérieur, ni inférieur à l’homme moderne, il était différent. La hiérarchisation est contraire à la démarche scientifique. Rien n’est fixé ou linéaire, l’évolution humaine est buissonnante, tant d’un point de vue biologique que culturel», explique Marylène Patou-Mathis, la commissaire scientifique de l’exposition.
