Wissenschaftstheoretiker Prof. Dr. Stephan Hartmann – SD
Stephan Hartmann gilt als einer der führenden Wissenschaftler in der formalen Erkenntnistheorie und der Wissenschaftstheorie. Seit Oktober 2012 verstärkt er die Philosophie an der LMU. Er ist Trägereiner Alexander-von-Humboldt-Professur, Deutschlands höchstdotierter Forschungspreis, der ihn zurück nach Deutschland brachte. An der LMU baut Hartmann mit seinem Lehrstuhl für Wissenschaftstheorie das Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) und die interdisziplinäre Vernetzung seines Faches aus – gemeinsam mit Hannes Leitgeb, Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Logik und Sprachphilosophie und ebenfalls Träger einer Humboldt-Professur. Um komplexe philosophische Probleme zu lösen, nutzen die Wissenschaftler des Centers avancierte mathematische Methoden.
Hartmann ist nach der Systembiologin Ulrike Gaul, dem Astrophysiker Georgi Dvali und Hannes Leitgeb bereits der vierte Humboldt-Professor an der LMU.
