Als schwuler Junge in einem (ostdeutschen) Dorf groß zu werden war nicht immer ganz so easy für mich. Homosexualität und queeres Leben kannte ich fast nur aus dem Fernsehen, es war für mich immer was abstraktes, fernes. Etwas, was es vor Ort nicht gab und was ich somit nicht sein konnte. Aber queeres Leben ist auch jenseits der großen Städte existent und vielfältig. Dazu gehören mitunter auch schwierige Zeiten, aber auch jede Menge Engagement vor Ort und Menschen, die sich solidarisch zeigen und für sexuelle und geschlechtliche Vielfalt einstehen.
In „Somewhere Over The Hay Bale“ interviewe ich Menschen, die im ländlichen Raum leben oder in einem Dorf/in einer Kleinstadt groß geworden sind. Ich richte so mehr Licht auf ihre Lebensrealitäten und -entwürfe, Erfahrungen, ihr Engagement und ihre Vorstellungen von community.
Für alle queeren Menschen, die in Dörfern und Kleinstädten aufwachsen und wohnen - es gibt uns. Wir sind vor Ort.
