Dr. Paolo Macchiarini ist ein smarter und gut aussehender Chirurg, der für seine bahnbrechenden Transplantationen bekannt ist. Mit der Entwicklung künstlicher Organe verändert er das Leben seiner Patientinnen und Patienten. Als die Fernsehproduzentin Benita sich bei der Arbeit an einer Reportage in ihn verliebt, verändert er auch ihr Leben. Doch aus dem Märchen wird schnell ein Albtraum.
