- Aug 11: It's impossible to advertise to users of ad-free video services... unless you use podcasting. Cumulus Media and Signal Hill released data showing that ad-free video streamers over-index on podcast listening: good news for advertisers who want to get in front of this hard-to-reach audience.
- Aug 7: Cumulus Media has laid-off a large number of people in the Cumulus Podcast Network; some reports suggested the entire department has been gutted, though the company has said that those reports are inaccurate, and that the company "remains committed" to its network. A LinkedIn post by former VP of Podcast Operations and Production, Jay "PodVader" Soderberg, suggests he is one of those affected; it's also reported that SVP of Marketing and Podcasting Carolyn Chauncey has also left, as well as Executive Producer Tanya Bustos. Edison Research's Share of Ear study is reported by Cumulus Media, who tell us that the majority of ad-supported Spotify impressions go to low-income, less educated audiences who are far less likely to work full-time.
- Jun 19: Cumulus Media and Signal Hill Insights released the Spring 2026 Podcast Download Report. It reports that watchable podcasts have hit a new height in popularity; and that 38% of weekly podcast consumers listen via a smart TV. However, only 8% say they only watch podcasts.

Boring ads cost much more to achieve the same result as interesting ones, says the research - the duller the ad, the greater the cost.
