- Nov 18: Audio is still the #1 way to consume podcasts, despite the chatter about video. That’s one of the findings of the latest Cumulus Media and Signal Hill Insights Podcast Download Report, published yesterday. Over half of podcast consumers on YouTube also listen to the same podcasts on another platform. Only 8% just watch podcasts, a number that hasn’t changed since 2022. - Oct 13: The Shawn Ryan Show, one of the US’s top 50 podcasts, has signed with Daylight Media. The show was with Cumulus Media, and last month the Wall Street Journal suggested the deal could be worth $10mn. Daylight Media is an expansion of QCODE.
- Aug 8: Cumulus Media released its financial results for Q2/25. Total revenue was down 9.2% year-on-year. Digital revenue was down 1.4% year-on-year.
- Aug 6: Cumulus Media has announced a joint strategic partnership with video-sharing platform Rumble that “recognizes the evolution of podcasting and video in today’s media landscape”.
- Jul 15: Even radio now has visuals in new dashboards. Pierre Bouvard, writing in the Cumulus Media and Westwood One blog, highlights some of the benefits of using visuals in audio advertising, using a number of studies. (We can use visuals in many podcast apps for podcast chapters; and, of course, on our YouTube videos). Pierre also shares this fun fact from Nielsen: “Half the time, TV ads are heard, not seen.”
