RØDECaster Pro II now available in white

• A podcast mixing unit, the RØDECaster Pro II has been announced in a new, white, edition. It joins the company’s microphones and headphones which are also available in white, for a cleaner look on video.

• Buzzsprout has launched its Android app. It launched an iOS app a few months ago; it offers a number of features including analytics, publishing and “fanmail”. The app is free for Buzzsprout creators.

• Magellan AI has released its report for podcast ad revenue for May. Of the top 15 advertisers, 12 reduced spend last month. There is a webinar on Thursday.

• The iHeart Podcast Union, part of the Writers Guild of America East, has ratified its first union contract. “This contract has immediately improved the lives of many of our members and we believe it will continue to improve our lives and working conditions.” The package includes pay increases and better staff benefits.

• Kids and family audio producer Pinna has released a number of its popular shows as free podcasts, just in time for the school holidays.

• YouTube has added a “Your Podcasts” page. You’ll see it in the “You” tab in the YouTube app on mobile; and on the web on the sidebar: you get a list of shows you’re subscribed to. There’s a “Your Shows” rail in the YouTube Music app, too.

• Advertisers for facial aesthetics treatment? You don’t want TV - you want to advertise on podcasts and the radio, says Veritone One and Signal Hill Insights.

• Apple has announced two firsts: its first dual-language podcast, but also the first to be part of the Apple TV+ connected subscription, offering Apple TV+ subscribers access to all episodes on release in Apple Podcasts. The show, “an Apple Original”, is called My Divo or Mi Divo, and is made by Futuro Studios. (It’s hosted on Amazon’s ART19).

• B2B podcast company Podcast Architects is now called Proclaim. The Texan company was founded in 2019.

• This week, podcast recommendation newsletter EarBuds covers Audio Drama Podcasts Created by Black Women.

• Brainnnns… Zombie Google Podcasts is still alive in the iOS and Android app stores outside the US: and it still works fine, despite a note saying that it closes on June 23. The podcast app that won’t die - we’re off to the Winchester to have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.
