TV and podcasting are true companions

Video and podcasting can work really well together - when promoting each other, says new research from Sounds Profitable and Owl & Co. 16% of podcast listeners have purchased a streaming subscription after hearing about a show they want to watch - and 44% of listeners to a podcast about a TV show or movie talk to their friends about the TV show.

The Daily reaches twice as many listeners as Joe Rogan, according to Podscribe’s rankings for the month of October 2025. The Daily, Crime Junkie and The Joe Rogan Experience held their positions in the top 3, reaching 11.1mn, 10.8mn and 6.2mn listeners. The Charlie Kirk Show, which jumped to #9 last month, has dipped to #25, after its monthly audience more than halved - it’s down to 2mn.
- Podtrac’s rankings for October are also released. Year-on-year, every participating publisher’s global RSS numbers are down by around 8%.

RØDE has announced the RØDECaster Video S, a smaller video mixer. It includes automatic video switching based on who’s speaking; and is $499.

One of the longest-running “podcasts about podcasting” from a podcast company, The Feed The Official Libsyn Podcast, is to close. Hosted by Elsie Escobar and Rob Walch with more than 300 episodes, The Feed has been going since July 2013 - the first episode covering Windows Phone 8 podcast apps and Stitcher stats. A Libsyn spokesperson told us: “As Libsyn looks ahead to 2026, we’re excited to introduce new ways to support and celebrate our creator and advertiser community across all our platforms. Stay tuned – more ways to learn, connect, and create are on the way.”
- Rob Walch’s own podCast411 podcast broke the news, as he announced his show’s return: podCast411 been going since December 2004.
- On a personal note: The Feed’s listener meet-up in Philadelphia in 2018 was the first podcast meet-up I went to. Rob and Elsie were gracious and welcoming to their listeners, including me. I’ll miss it.

In the Dominican Republic, the first annual PodcastRD Awards 2025 have been announced, with nineteen podcasts competing for an award. The event will be live online on Nov 11.

Netflix is apparently talking to SiriusXM about taking some of its video podcasts. As with other deals, it would remove the shows from YouTube.

Edison Research looks at the podcast appearances made by the NYC Mayoral candidates. The winner, Zohran Mamdani, appeared on the most podcasts - 31, reaching 12.5mn people.
