A major new podcasting event has been announced, in London, UK. The Podcast Show will be held in May 2021, and will welcome 6,000 attendees over two days. The organisers plan 250 speakers and a 'fringe’ set of events nearby. Tickets go on sale in October. We’ve more events over here.

How successful was that promo that you got onto that podcast? Chartable has launched SmartPromos, a podcast-to-podcast attribution tool that can work out how many downloads you got from each promo. It’s available for all publishers and advertisers on Chartable’s Enterprise plans.

Music bootleggers are using Spotify’s podcast section to sneak in “user-uploaded, bootleg music and audio masquerading as podcasts”. Document focuses on one podcast that gets over two million listeners a week. This may be the reason for the increased amount of takedown requests from record companies.

Today’s Spotify podcast deal: Mark and Jay Duplass, who have created shows on HBO and Netflix. “Making a truly engaging narrative podcast seems really, really difficult,” the brothers tell Deadline. Mmm.

Digiday reports a trend from podcasters to see how they can add more ads to their podcasts. Veritone’s Stephen Smyk cautions that this makes ads less successful.

Deezer has added a Black Culture channel to their service. The new channel is to be a permanent fixture, and features podcasts and music from black creators. The company has also banned the word “urban” internally, claiming it’s outdated.

Podchaser has made it easy to apply to The Podcast Academy - just by adding a link to your Podchaser profile. It’s currently just $50 to join the Academy.
