Tenderfoot TV is funding a podcast entirely from Bitcoin. From Nowhere will look at the “dark past” of the crypto world; it’ll launch in early 2022. (Read this to earn Bitcoin from your podcast; we’ve just updated it with the latest information.)

At Fast Company, Nicole Laporte publishes More than Joe Rogan: Inside Spotify’s Audio Revolution, with a number of quotes from Spotify insiders. Spotify is presumably pleased with it, since their PR team flagged it up for us to include today.

Apple Podcasts has sent an email to podcasters. In it, they flagged up the new feed refresh button in Apple Podcasts Connect, and added a tool to promote Apple Podcasts on social media, which look like this: although we’d recommend using universal links too.

The Apple Podcasts app, which was once Apple’s worst-rated app at just 1.8, is mysteriously riding high at 4.7 these days. Why’s that? PodMov Daily suggest that people are hearing “give us a five star rating on Apple Podcasts” and rating the app instead. One five star review for the Apple Podcast app says “So glad my friend introduced me to this podcast”. (And, presenting your daily reminder that ratings and reviews don’t have any effect on the Apple Podcasts charts.)

Acast has signed Latin American podcast publisher Dudas Media. The company also held an indigenous podcasting event in Canada, which you can watch again.

Remote recording tool Zencastr has added an active speaker layout which automatically gives the big screen to the person who’s speaking; or shows the two (or three) people who are talking back and forth. The company has also added a face centering tool, to stop those “sitting on one side” moments.

Another short-form audio app, Logcast, has launched. The app “will reconstruct the way audio creators create, monetize and distribute their content”, and lets you record and share up to ten minutes of audio. The iOS-only app is described as “if you took a podcast app, crossed it with Twitter and added a dash of TikTok.”

Indian audio platform Pocket FM has received more than 100 million plays for Yakshini, a horror audio show in five different languages.

Meanwhile, Amit Kukreja, cofounder and CEO of another audio platform, Audea, says that RSS is broken, and major audio platforms are a graveyard of content.
