The Podcast Show in London is underway, with record numbers of attendees registered to attend. Christiane Amanpour and Emily Maitlis – two veteran female journalists – have been confirmed for a ‘Behind The Headlines’ session; and Apple Podcasts will deliver a session for the first time.

Spotify’s share of downloads is down year-on-year in the UK, according to OP3 data. Our Editor, James Cridland, speaking this morning at The Podcast Show London, compared data from a typical week in April in 2024 and 2025. “It may be that this is the growth of Spotify video, which won’t be seen by third-party analytics services like this,” he said. Apple Podcasts increased its share by 4.3%. The data also doesn’t show YouTube, Global Player or BBC Sounds.

The UK’s Channel 4, the second-oldest commercial television network in the UK, is to put its Channel 4.0 youth content onto Spotify video. “This new first of its kind approach puts Channel 4 content in another place where people already are.”

The Podcast Show isn’t the only podcast event going on this week. The Estación Podcast Festival is on right now in Madrid, Spain; at the event, documentary indie podcast Las Raras is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a unique album titled Soundtrip — a sonic journey through some of their original music and soundscapes collected over the past decade. The album will be released at the event as a vinyl record, and it is already available on all major music platforms (like here on Spotify).
