Podcasters splashdown in Orlando for Podfest

• Podfest Expo is taking place at the Renaissance Orlando at Seaworld in Florida; with the full tracks starting today. The Podcast Hall of Fame Ceremony is held this evening, welcoming eleven new people. We’re sorry we’re not there this year; but we hope you have a great time.

• Audiencelift has released a brand new version of its audience growth platform. The company says it grows your podcast audience by advertising your podcast trailer on premium digital publishers such as CNN, Yahoo and WSJ, finding people interested in what your show is about.

• The IAB expects US digital advertising growth to slow considerably this year. It’s because of a lack of big events like the Olympics and elections. It’s not limited to digital ads, though - everyone is predicted to feel the pinch.

• Podcasting never stops - and a podcast studio in Melbourne VIC, Australia, is now open right round the clock. This Is A Studio in Prahran has two video-equipped studios, and a mobile setup for conferences and exhibitions.

• Auddia, which launched a podcast app that strips the ads in Nov 2023, has announced a new share offering. The documentation comes with full balance sheets for the company. We learn that in the nine months ending Sep 30, 2024, its total operating expenses were $5.6mn; while the Chairman, CEO and CFO were paid, in total, $1.07mn for the year. The company’s total revenue during that time was $0.

• Just before Christmas, Marketplace Tech covered a look back at 20 years of podcasting.

• The Webby Awards has announced a session with Dan Taberski, who was awarded Podcast of the Year by Apple Podcasts last month. It’s on Jan 29.
