  • Apple has announced Apple Music radio, which includes a number of on-demand shows from “the world’s top music hosts and artists”, and three radio channels: Apple Music Hits and Apple Music Country, with the original Beats 1 station being rebranded to Apple Music 1: the live channels are available free for everyone within Apple Music. (The on-demand shows could be in Apple Podcasts as exclusives, if Apple wanted to…)

  • Podcast maker Alitu is to release Call Recording as a limited beta this week. For use with remote interviews, at the end of the call each guest’s audio is polished up through Alitu’s standard audio cleanup process - including levelling and noise reduction - before being joined together into one single interview recording for you to edit and package further. It’ll be in limited testing until late September.

  • PodTales, a festival of audio drama and fiction podcasting, will take place as a virtual festival later this year over three weekends.

  • A new podcast network has launched: the Personal Finance Podcast Network. It launches with six separate shows offering expert advice to listeners.

  • Faithcasts is a podcast directory for Christian podcasts. If you host one, you can add your show for free.

  • Coming in mid October, the Zoom PodTrak P4 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder - priced at just $199, it appears to have similar functionality to the Rødecaster, if not the same sleek looks.
