Libsyn has announced it has now paid over $100mn in creator payouts. Year-on-year, the company paid-out 40% more revenue between Jan-Jul 2025. Senior members of the team will be at Podcast Movement next week.

Exclusive: Rhapsody Voices has announced a spin-out from Evergreen Podcasts, and has relaunched as a boutique agency focused on the podcast and creator economy. Evergreen is leading a new round of investment. The network will be led by Mike Jensen and Harris Lane. (The company will be at Podcast Movement).

How are Gen Z listening to podcasts? Coleman Insights and Amplifi Media have worked with Transistor to produce new data. YouTube is dominating as Gen Z’s preferred podcast app; podcasts are mostly discovered through social media; and there is a stark difference, the data says, in how 18-24 year-olds consume podcasts compared to 55-64 year-olds. A new movie about podcasting, Age of Audio, is to get a free screening at Podcast Movement. (Here’s the trailer). Featuring the journey of independent creator Ronald Young Jr, the movie will be shown on Wed Aug 20 at 6.30pm in the Sounds Profitable lounge - and open to anyone at Podcast Movement.

Podcasting has a smaller share of listening with Black Americans than the general US market, according to new data from Nielsen’s Audio Today 2025 report, quoting Edison Research’s Share of Ear. (You might remember that The Black Podcast Listener Report, last published in Feb 2023, suggested the number of Black Americans listening each month was higher than the general population; however, they don’t listen as often, hence these two slightly contradictory numbers).
