HP gets into podcast advertising

• Hewlett-Packard spent $2.2m in podcast advertising in July, being the largest new advertiser, says MagellanAI. BetterHelp, the #1 advertiser, spent $6.3m. There is a webinar tomorrow at 11am ET.

• “Some have pointed out to us that their favorite Spotify-produced podcasts have disappeared from their usual podcast feeds. We wanted to take the time to explain why these changes have been made” - in a blog post, Spotify explains that they get better statistics from exclusive shows. The company has reportedly pulled more shows from other platforms.

• Apple has doubled its affiliate payout for linking to paid podcast subscriptions. It has also added the ability to link to channels from their marketing tools website.

• Apple has also rolled out a social media link generator to help promote its podcast platform promote your podcast.

• Lalal․ai is an AI-powered audio splitter, allowing you to split different speakers into their own audio tracks, as one example. The Podcast Host gives it a review.

• Blubrry’s professional podcasting plan is now available for purchase online.

• The New Zealand Podcast Awards have been launched. 12% of New Zealanders listen to a podcast every day. The deadline for nominations is Sep 1.

• In Indonesia, NOICE, a podcast and music app, has hired two ex-Googlers to their management team. Rado Ardian is CEO; Niken Sasmaya is Chief Business Officer. The company has more than a hundred original shows.

• AdsWizz and Simplecast have published their session at Podcast Movement 2021; with discussions about audience growth and dynamic ad insertion.

• Buzzsprout RSS feeds now include the podcast:GUID - a feature of the podcast namespace that allows you to link to shows with an ID that should never change.

• Podnews now has a public lightning node. You’re welcome to connect. For value4value payments we’re continuing to use Satoshi Streams for now, so we can see boostagram messages. (And talking of which - our podcast today contains Boostagram Corner).

• Anchor now has more than 1.7m RSS feeds in the Podcast Index (1,711,303). 244,642 have updated in the last 90 days (14.2%).

• From our sample, we saw 411 podcasts change podcast host last week. Libsyn lost 52 shows and added just 15, losing 37 shows overall; Anchor lost more shows (59) but gained 83 from other hosts.
