  • Persephonica has signed a exclusive sales partnership with Acast. The deal means that Acast Studios London will be used for recording some of the company’s shows.

  • Livewire episode data for July appears to show Spotify for Creators has rebounded back to having a 24% share of all episodes released. Spreaker is on a 2026 record of 13.6%. The increased numbers for Spotify and Spreaker mean that almost all other podcast hosts are showing a decline in share this month, with one exception: new entrant Firstory has shown a significant increase. Having said that, Podcast Index’s public data shows that many new shows from Firstory are chinese-language spam promoting coupon codes.

  • European podcasting newsletter Eurowaves has announced its advisory board. Founder Andreea Coscai said: “There is plenty of room and need for growth, funding, support, and cross-border collaboration. This board is a group of professionals who have spent their careers building exactly that, in different corners of the world.” The board includes our Editor, James Cridland; here are his full disclosures.

  • Reddit is going to let you listen to Reddit threads as audio in the background while you do other things. The CEO, Steve Huffman, teased the feature as coming later this year, so those of us who want to hear people trying to be funny in the answers of /r/whatisit have not too long to wait.

  • YTShorts.ai  is a new AI tool that takes a full podcast episode — or any long-form video — and automatically generates ranked, ready-to-post 9:16 clips, complete with accurate captions and natural AI voiceover. It’s built for podcasters who want to repurpose episodes into TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts without manual editing. It’s made by solo founder Bhawika Kaushik, based in India.

  • Podlex plugs into Claude or ChatGPT and lets your imaginary friend think it knows things about podcasts. It claims it has access to 4.8 million podcasts, so that’ll mean it’s using the Podcast Index database. The author says that 52.6% of all shows have published nothing in the past 18 months; and that it’s found 22,395 mass-AI-produced shows. Here’s hoping they’re all clearly disclosing their use of AI!
