• Podcast host RedCircle has launched a new, automated ad platform that makes it easy to buy host-read ads on thousands of podcasts. “We’ve simplified the buying experience in what has traditionally been a very fractured market, helping brands buy on one podcast, a hundred, or more,” says CEO Michael Kadin.

• Congratulations to the Podfest Global Summit, who claims that they “just hit the number that sets the Guinness World Record for Largest Virtual Podcasting Event in a Week”.

  • Fun Friday Fact: The Guinness World Record for the largest glass of orange juice was set by podcasting’s Rob Greenlee in June 1998. It measured 2,313 litres. Here’s a TV report featuring a youthful Rob and a quite laborious setup for a joke.

• Podtrac have released their top 20 US podcasts for July 2020. Surprisingly, Serial has risen from below the top 50 up to #11: because of the publicity surrounding the NYT purchase of Serial Productions, maybe? The ranker only measures participating publishers.

• SemaBox is a new podcast studio setup in Nairobi that lets anyone record a podcast. Come in, record, and within 24 hours they’ll send you a finished version to share it with the world, according to an interview with Paula Rogo.
