The Rest Is Politics: US announces three-hour live midterms election special
Broadcast live from a professional television studio, the Goalhanger production will run from 5am-8am GMT (midnight-3am ET), as results emerge from key races across the United States.
Titled 'America Decides’, the special will see Katty and Anthony deliver live analysis and reaction as results unfold, exploring what they mean for control of Congress, Donald Trump’s presidency and the direction of American politics over the next two years.
Joining them in the studio will be Ed Elson, co-host of Prof G Markets, and Amanda Renteria, former National Political Director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, alongside a range of remote guests offering further insight and reaction throughout the broadcast.
Viewers will also be able to get involved, submitting live questions and taking part in interactive YouTube polls as results come in.
The three-hour special will be the culmination of an extended programme of midterms coverage from The Rest Is Politics: US, with five additional livestreams in the run-up to election night:
- Wednesday 28 October: 6pm GMT / 2pm ET
- Thursday 29 October: 8pm GMT / 4pm ET
- Friday 30 October: 8pm GMT / 4pm ET
- Monday 2 November: 8pm GMT / 3pm ET
- Tuesday 3 November: 6pm GMT / 1pm ET
All coverage will be streamed on The Rest Is Politics: US YouTube channel, where viewers can also set a reminder for the main three-hour election special on Wednesday 4 November. Recordings of each livestream will also be made available on The Rest Is Politics: US podcast feed following broadcast.
The livestream follows Goalhanger’s live coverage of the 2024 US presidential election, which brought together Alastair Campbell, Rory Stewart, Anthony Scaramucci and other Goalhanger talent for a special broadcast from New York, attracting more than 2.5 million streams on YouTube alone.
