Sounds Profitable and Podcast Movement Appoint First-Ever Head of Communications to Power the Next Era of Podcasting
Sounds Profitable, the trade association for the podcasting industry, today announced the creation of a new senior leadership role with the appointment of Molly DeMellier as Head of Communications. The move reflects the organization’s expanded scope following its recent merger with Podcast Movement and its commitment to strengthening industry-wide education, insights, and advocacy. The new role also formalizes Sounds Profitable’s growing influence and deepens its ability to support the industry with greater impact.
In this newly established role, DeMellier will lead all global communications functions, including media relations, marketing, external storytelling, and internal communications. She will also support PR and marketing efforts for Sounds Profitable partners as well as oversee event execution for the brand at major festivals including SXSW, Cannes Lions, and its flagship Podcast Movement event.
“Our merger with Podcast Movement opened the door for ambitious growth and elevating communications is central to how we serve this industry,” said Bryan Barletta, Partner at Sounds Profitable and President of Podcast Movement. “Molly’s experience building narratives in podcasting as well as across major entertainment and tech brands makes her the ideal leader to drive this next chapter.”
Data-driven storytelling sits at the core of Sounds Profitable’s work, and DeMellier will play a key role in translating complex insights into clear narratives that shape industry understanding and adoption.
“We’re expanding our capabilities, our reach, and our role in shaping the future of podcasting,” said Tom Webster, Partner at Sounds Profitable. “With research as the backbone of everything we do, having a dedicated Head of Communications ensures those findings aren’t just published, but understood, contextualized, and acted on. Molly brings the sharp thinking and executional rigor needed to elevate that impact.”
DeMellier joins Sounds Profitable with a decade-long career developing high-impact communications strategies across entertainment, media, and technology brands.
Previously, as Director of Marketing and PR, US at Acast, she oversaw paid and earned communications across the region. Her four-year tenure saw the development of a PR engine that secured national coverage in outlets such as Bloomberg, Variety, and The Hollywood Reporter, while managing communications for partnerships with President Barack and Mrs. Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground and Warner Bros. Discovery. Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer at Sundaze PR, leading communications strategies for a portfolio of creator economy clients including FlightStory, Wondercraft, Audioboom, Noiser, and more.
