Flightcast Launches Collaborative Publishing, Giving Podcast Teams a Safer Way to Work Together

Flightcast, the video-first podcast hosting and distribution platform, today announced the launch of Collaborative Publishing. The new suite of tools is designed to make it easier and safer for podcast teams to work together on episodes, particularly in fast-moving production environments where multiple people are making changes at once.

With Collaborative Publishing, multiple team members can now work on the same episode simultaneously across different fields, including titles, descriptions, thumbnails and other episode details. Team members can see who is actively editing each field, while Flightcast automatically saves everyone’s changes into a shared working copy.

The update tackles one of the most common problems in collaborative podcast production: one team member saving an episode only to accidentally overwrite changes another person made moments earlier.

“Podcast production has always been collaborative, but the technology behind publishing hasn’t kept pace with how teams actually work,” said Rox Codes, Co-Founder and CEO of Flightcast (pictured above). “When you’re publishing a daily show or working against a breaking news deadline, you can’t afford to coordinate every title change, description update or thumbnail swap manually. Collaborative Publishing gives teams a single working version of an episode where everyone can do their job without worrying about undoing someone else’s.”

At the center of the new workflow is Flightcast’s Working Copy, which allows teams to make and automatically save changes to an episode without immediately pushing those updates live.Once the episode is ready, a team member can select “Review Changes", which captures the exact state of the episode at that moment for review before publishing.That means even if another team member continues editing while changes are being reviewed or published, those subsequent edits will not unexpectedly alter what goes live.

Collaborative Publishing also introduces permanent Audit Logs, giving Flightcast customers a detailed history of changes made to episode content, with editor attribution and timestamps.

From a single character changed in an episode description to a new thumbnail, teams can see what was changed, who changed it and when. The result is greater accountability and visibility across the entire production and publishing process.

Together, Collaborative Publishing, Working Copies and Audit Logs create a workflow designed for modern podcast organizations where publishing is increasingly handled across larger, more specialized teams.

The launch also establishes the technical foundation for Flightcast to continue expanding its collaborative capabilities, including more real-time functionality in the future.
