More Than 11,000 HLS Video Episodes Are Now Live on Apple Podcasts Through Buzzsprout
More than 1,000 Buzzsprout-hosted shows have now published over 11,000 HLS video episodes on Apple Podcasts.
“The HLS video experience in Apple Podcasts keeps what people love about podcasts while adding video,” said Alban Brooke, Head of Marketing at Buzzsprout. “Listeners can watch an episode, listen to it, or read its transcript in one place, and the early growth shows audiences are embracing it. We’re excited to help more independent podcasters bring HLS video to their listeners.”
Among 562 established shows, median Apple Podcasts downloads were 19% higher in the 28 days after their first HLS video episode went live than in the previous 28 days. The analysis used data from Buzzsprout’s IAB Tech Lab v2.2-certified analytics.
Some podcasters have seen even more dramatic growth.
“The lesson I have learned is that I am wrong about people not watching video. Our numbers have exploded,” said Kristin Sundin Brandt, co-host of Cycling Together with Kristin & Steve (pictured above). “Our first year, we were getting anywhere from about 100 to 300 downloads per episode. The last three video episodes are all well over 1,000 and one has surpassed 2,000 downloads.”
Buzzsprout has worked closely with the Apple Podcasts team to make HLS video easy for independent podcasters to adopt. More shows and episodes are going live every day.
