Audioboom Caught RedHanded: One of the Most Popular True Crime Podcasts Ever Inks Major New Deal

Press Release · New York, NY, United States · via Audioboom ·

Suruthi Bala and Hannah Maguire have struck an exclusive commercial and distribution partnership with Audioboom, the leading global podcast company, to manage the global sales, distribution and growth of their critically acclaimed true crime series, RedHanded

Launched in 2017, RedHanded has grown into one of the world’s most popular true crime podcasts, now breaking over 30 million downloads per year. The show took home Gold in the Listeners’ Choice Award at the British Podcast Awards three years in a row (2021, 2022, and 2023), and brings fans a weekly dose of murder, wit, and “WTFs”, all topped with real British flavor for a growing global audience.

The partnership sees RedHanded return to the Audioboom Creator Network, where Audioboom will distribute the podcast to audiences globally and open up premium commercial opportunities for advertisers across both audio and video formats.

Bala and Maguire, the hosts and creators of RedHanded, commented: “RedHanded began its growth journey with Audioboom, so returning feels like a natural next chapter. The team understands our show, our audience and the value of creator-led storytelling. This partnership gives us the infrastructure to reach new listeners globally and work with brand partners in a way that protects the integrity of what we’ve achieved so far.”

RedHanded will bring their archive of more than 400 main episodes plus the back catalog of previously paywalled ShortHand episodes to the Audioboom Creator Network. All future episodes of RedHanded and ShortHand will be distributed and monetized by Audioboom.

RedHanded, which features popular video podcasts in addition to its audio podcast offering, returns to Audioboom at a time when the company was recognized as the biggest video podcast publisher in the world, per the Podscribe Ranker. Audioboom was also recently announced as a launch partner for the Spotify Distribution API for video podcasts, another illustration of Audioboom’s leadership in video podcast promotion and monetization.

Brendan Regan, Chief Content Officer at Audioboom commented: “Welcoming RedHanded back to Audioboom is extremely rewarding for our team because it affirms how committed we’ve been to building the world’s most robust and lucrative offering for podcasters. The commercial opportunities for audio and video podcasting are skyrocketing, and we have the tools and capabilities to turn opportunity into our creators’ reality.”

With its expansive UK sales operation and last year’s acquisition of UK podcast network Adelicious, Audioboom has become the biggest independent UK podcasting platform. The company’s new partnership with RedHanded spotlights its flourishing portfolio of creators across regions and its powerful offering for podcasters and sponsors alike, in the UK and beyond.

RedHanded will be made available widely across platforms, including on Spotify, YouTube and wherever fans choose to access their favorite shows.
