Both Donkey Kong and Rare have proven that tomorrow never dies. With Tropical Freeze for the Switch having reestablished Donkey Kong Country’s standing with the critics and consumers, K. Rool now a certified superstar thanks to his role in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Rare finding their biggest success in years with Sea of Thieves, there’s no erstwhile assassin that can bring down this Rarenaissance. So with the decision made to die another day, what comes next?

The Kongversation will continue to tackle all of the Donkey Kong, Rare, and Playtonic news that comes our way this year. And what a year! DK Vine itself turns 20 in 2019, and we’ll have appropriate retrospectives for not only ourselves, but all the games that share our birthday. We had a golden eye for the Donkey Kong Universe back then, but now? The world is not enough. We want to spread this fandom… across the universe. Wait, that’s the Beatles.
