If you could call a number and say you’re sorry, and no one would know…what would you apologize for? For fifteen years, you could call a number in Manhattan and do just that. This is the story of the line, and the man at the other end who became consumed by his own creation. He was known as “Mr. Apology.” As thousands of callers flooded the line, confessing to everything from shoplifting to infidelity, drug dealing to murder, Mr. Apology realized he couldn’t just listen. He had to do something, even if it meant risking everything. From Wondery the makers of Dr. Death and The Shrink Next Door, comes a story about empathy, deception and obsession. Marissa Bridge, who knew Mr. Apology better than anyone, hosts this six episode series.
This podcast may use tracking and attribution and dynamic content insertion
Stats: Statistics are produced by ART19, Podtrac, Chartable and Podsights to help The Apology Line to understand how many downloads it is getting, or how many people are listening. Your device’s IP address and useragent is used to help calculate this figure. ART19, Podtrac and Chartable are IAB v2 certified.
Tracking and attribution: ART19, Chartable and Podsights or their partners may connect the fact you listened to this podcast to an action elsewhere on the internet. For example - they may spot a device that downloaded an episode of The Apology Line later visited the website of an advertiser; or they may track that a device that listened to The Apology Line also listened to a different show. This form of attribution is used to measure advertising effectiveness.
Dynamic content insertion: ART19 may use limited data that they know about you - the device you’re using, the approximate location you’re in, or other data that can be derived from this, like the current weather forecast for your area - to change parts of the audio. The Apology Line may do this for advertising or for other forms of content, like news stories.
The Apology Line is able to use the above tools since its podcast host or measurement company offers this service. It doesn’t mean that this podcast uses them, or has access to this functionality. We use open data.
