Joining YR Media’s expanding podcast department means working on high-impact podcast products for teen and young adult audiences on issues important to our content creators and a pipeline for youth talent at YR and career-readiness in the podcast industry.
Our award-winning shows include Adult ISH and Inherited (distributed by major podcast networks Radiotopia and Critical Frequency), have more than a million downloads on major platforms, and garnered press from The New York Times, NPR and AV Club.
Requirements
Senior Producers for YR Media’s Podcasting department work closely with producers, hosts, engineers, contributors, and external partners on show creation, production and delivery, including audio to all the major platforms, our yr.media website and social media channels. This position works to elevate the sound of our shows while managing daily and long-term projects, and coordinating with YR Media’s distribution partners (including producing cross-promos, house ads, marketing assets and other related media and information).
This position will lead production for podcasts, grant-funded projects, and shows we haven’t dreamt up yet. As YR Media’s podcast inventory grows, this role also includes building teams and processes for select new products (from special series to new shows) and will play an advisory role on YR Media podcasts in development, providing technical advice and expertise and production guidelines and assistance to colleagues leading those efforts.
Training and mentorship of people in YR Media’s youth programs is a core expectation of every role. Sr Producers will teach, learn from, and coach students in our media education programs, high school internships, young adult PA roles, and early career fellowships to use industry-standard production equipment, applications, and techniques. They will also help create fun and innovative ways to incorporate youth voices in all of our products.
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position, salary range is $75k-$85k (commensurate to experience and internal equity measures) and will report to YR Media’s Director of Podcasting. Candidates local to Oakland/SF Bay Area or Chicago are preferred, for hybrid work.
