Overall
Wondery seeks to engage up to 2 Producers for a new weekly narrative video podcast about viral infamy. These roles will collaborate with a team of writers, APs, video producers, and EPs to launch and run this always-on show. If you’re a leader and a team player with strong story-telling skill, experience with video production, and Youtube expertise, we want to hear from you.
Compensation and Structure
This is a 1099 independent contractor position with an estimated hourly commitment of 40 hours per week. This contract will run up to 12 months, with the possibility to extend. We’re looking for 1 - 2 producers to start ASAP. Estimated compensation for this position ranges from $1,800 to $2,000 per week. Compensation is negotiable based on experience, skillset, and location. Preference will be given to LA-based producers. This position does not provide benefits.
Key Job Responsibilities
NOTE: As production scales, these responsibilities may be co-managed by 2 Producers
- Lead production for our video podcast series, from pre-production through final delivery
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the show, shepherding episodes from inception through final delivery
- Own the production schedule and attend weekly production and story meetings
- Review potential show subjects
- Give detailed notes on outlines and scripts to achieve structure, voice and tone for weekly episodes
- Help manage recording sessions with talent, directing the host as needed
- Give detailed notes on video cuts
- Support our YouTube channel strategy and growth, supporting the optimization of content alongside Wondery’s distribution team, monitoring analytics and adapting strategy based on performance
- Ensure consistent quality across video and audio output
Qualifications
- Experience with video production workflow from pre to post
- Experience producing and conducting research for story-driven, fact-based shows.
- Experience managing YouTube channels, including optimization for growth
- Demonstrated track record of growing subscriber base and engagement with a strong understanding of YouTube analytics, trends, and optimization best practices
- Understanding of multi-camera shooting for podcast/interview format
- 2 to 3 years of experience writing and/or editing for a scripted nonfiction show
- 1 to 2 Experience directing host talent in recordings with scripted material
- Ability to multitask and stay organized with fast-moving weekly production deadlines
