Salary range: $8,000 to $8,800 (monthly rate) - subject to experience

Wondery is seeking a Senior Producer for a new weekly environmental true crime narrative podcast. This role will collaborate with a team of producers, writers, and sound designers, to launch and run this always-on show. If you’re a leader and a team player with strong story operation skills, a bias for action, an ear for post-production, and experience running a weekly podcast, we want to hear from you.

Compensation for Services:

This is a 6-month 1099 independent contractor position with an estimated hourly commitment of 40 hours per week. This contract does have the possibility to extend, although there is no guarantee of continued engagement beyond the contract term. We’re looking for someone to start ASAP. Estimated compensation for this position ranges from $2,000 to $2,200 per week. Compensation is negotiable based on experience, skillset, and location. This position does not provide health, retirement, or pension benefits.

Main Job Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the show, shepherding episodes from inception through the final mix by running meetings, communicating deadlines, tracking assets, and maintaining the production schedule.
Attend weekly production and story meetings, leading meetings as needed. Establish framing, structure and tone for weekly episodes in collaboration with Wondery and Host. Manage the relationship with writers, including meeting with them for kickoff and feedback calls. Oversee the associate producer and provide notes on outlines, research, and annotation for each episode. Story edit scripts and outlines for a clear three-act structure and a compelling thematic arc. Provide both top-line notes and specific line edits/revisions, and prepare and approve final recording documents, including pickup documents. Participate in weekly pitch meetings. Oversee recording sessions with talent and direct hosts. Work with sound designer and team to give detailed mix and sound design notes. Prepare episodic and series metadata for approval. Manage show team, giving specific and constructive feedback and guidance to other contractors on the project. Insist on the highest standards across production.

Required Qualifications:

5 - 7 years experience producing a weekly show 2 - 3 years of experience writing for a narrative story-driven, fact-based show 2-3 years of experience story editing scripts with a character-driven narrative and a three act structure Experience running recording sessions and directing talent Experience giving mix notes for shows with sound design Self-starter with the ability to think critically and independently. Must be highly organized and deadline driven Excellent communication skills An interest in the environment and true crime Familiarity with Google Docs, Riverside, Descript, and Airtable
