Associate Producer

Salary range: $4,800 to $5,600 (monthly rate) - subject to experience
Wondery is seeking a Producer for a new weekly environmental true crime narrative podcast. This role will collaborate with a team of writers, sound designers, and producers to launch and run this always-on show. If you’re a leader and a team player with strong research skills, a bias for action, and experience editing audio, we want to hear from you.
Compensation for Services:
This is a six-month 1099 independent contractor position with an estimated hourly commitment of 40 hours per week. This contract does have the possibility to extend, although there is no guarantee of continued engagement beyond the contract term. We’re looking for someone to start ASAP. Estimated compensation for this position ranges from $1,200 to $1,400 per week. Compensation is negotiable based on experience, skillset, and location. This position does not provide health, retirement, or pension benefits.
Main Job Responsibilities:
Research and pitch environmental true crime stories by conducting story assessments.
Create research dossiers for chosen pitches.
Create annotated outlines in a three act structure for writers.
Own organizing and archiving production materials in accordance with Wondery’s organizational policies.
Support the producers and writers with additional research as needed.
Generate transcripts and format scripts.
Assemble host recordings into rough cuts for sound designers.
Assist the team with fact checking, coordination and post production as needed.
Draft episode metadata.
Required Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in audio production, including cutting tape. 1-3 years of research experience, including working with primary sources, archives, and dense material. Strong storytelling instincts, including basics of three-act structure and knowledge of what makes for a great audio story. Self-starter with the ability to think critically and independently. Excited to take ownership of the work. Familiarity with Google Docs, Riverside, Descript, and Airtable
