Writer/Producer
A full time Producer position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at Wondery.
Salary: $6,800 (monthly rate)
Wondery is hiring for a Writer/Producer for a new weekly narrative show that tells contemporary and historical stories about royals from around the globe. This role will work in lock step with a team of associate producers and story editors to launch and run this weekly show. If you are someone who’s a team player, has an ear for character-driven storytelling and an instinct for comedy and sound design, we want to hear from you.
This is a six month contract position with the possibility to extend. This position does not provide health, retirement, or pension benefits.
Compensation is based on experience and skillset and will be no less than $1700/week.
Main Job Responsibilities:
Pre-production:
- Research and pitch episode ideas
Production:
- Write 6300-6500 word scripted episodes (one outline with one revision pass, and one script with 2-3 revision passes)
- Implement story editor notes
- Address fact check and legal notes
- Track with the hosts in studio (remote), directing them on their script read and banter; write and track pickups as needed
Post-production:
- Sync and make rough cuts of your episodes in Descript (with assistance of AP)
- Work with sound designer and team to give detailed mix and sound design notes
- Write metadata for your episodes
Ongoing:
- Meet the deadlines for your episode from start to finish
- Attend weekly production and story meetings
Required Qualifications:
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience
- 2 - 3 years of experience writing for a narrative scripted nonfiction show
- Experience directing host talent in tracking with scripted material
- Experience giving mix notes for podcasts with sound design
- Ability to multitask and stay organized with weekly production deadlines
- Experience producing and conducting research for story-driven, fact-based shows
- Self-starter and excited to be a team player and leader
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience cutting two-host recording sessions on Descript, Pro Tools, or Audition
- Experience writing and producing comedy/improv content
- An interest in history stories and royals
