Sound Designer/Video Editor
A full time Audio Editor position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at Wondery.
Salary: $8,000 (monthly rate)
Wondery is hiring for a Sound Designer/Video Editor for a new weekly sports podcast. You will be vital to the show team, responsible for both video and audio editing as well as sound design for each episode. You will report to the senior producer and work closely with the lead producers and video lead. This show is topical and requires quick turnaround and active communication. This is a contract position starting September, 2023. Compensation is based on experience and skillset and will be no less than $2000 per episode.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Video Editing: Edit raw video footage to create cohesive and visually appealing sequences, ensuring proper pacing, transitions, and continuity.
- Storytelling: Collaborate with producers to understand the intended message, tone, and objectives of the video project, ensuring that the final product effectively communicates the desired narrative.
- Color Correction and Grading: Enhance video quality through color correction, grading, and other post-production techniques, ensuring consistency and visual appeal.
- Audio Editing: Edit and mix audio tracks to ensure clear and balanced sound, including dialogue, music, and sound effects. Must have a clear understanding of the industry-wide audio standards, as well as proficiency in audio restoration plug-ins.
- Graphic Integration: Incorporate graphics, animations, and visual effects into videos as needed.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including producers, production coordinators, video leads to ensure alignment with project goals and vision.
- Feedback Incorporation: Actively participate in review sessions and incorporate feedback to achieve the desired outcome.
- File Management: Organize and manage project files and assets, ensuring efficient workflow and easy access for team members.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality checks to identify and rectify any issues with video, audio, or visual elements before final delivery.
- Final Delivery: Deliver final assets and Wondery approved metadata for every episode via Airtable and Iconik
Basic Qualifications:
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or other industry-standard tools.
- Technical Proficiency: Up-to-date with the latest video editing software, techniques, and trends to ensure high-quality and innovative video content.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of video formats, codecs, aspect ratios, and various technical aspects of video production.
- Experience: A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in video editing and a solid understanding of storytelling through visual media.
- Creativity: Creative thinking and the ability to bring a unique perspective to video projects.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and understand project requirements.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure video quality and accuracy.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-Solving: Capacity to troubleshoot technical and creative issues that may arise during the editing process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A diverse portfolio showcasing a range of video projects, including different genres, styles, and formats.
- Familiarity with Adobe After Effects and other motion graphics software is a plus.
- Advanced Editing Skills: Experience with advanced editing techniques such as motion tracking, compositing, and advanced color grading.
- Motion Graphics: Proficiency in creating and integrating motion graphics, titles, and animations using tools like Adobe After Effects or similar software.
- Multimedia Experience: Familiarity with other aspects of multimedia production such as photography, graphic design, or animation, which can contribute to a more comprehensive skill set.
