Producer, Multiple Series

Salary: up to $6,400 (monthly rate) - subject to experience
Wondery is hiring for multiple topical always-on shows. If you’re a leader and a team player with strong story editing skills, a bias for action, a love for pop culture, and an ear for post-production, we want to hear from you. This is a full time six-month position with the possibility to extend. You would be working across two shows, spending 75% of your time as a producer on one pop culture talk show, and 25% of your time as a Producer on a rewatch podcast. You will report into and work closely with Wondery’s internal Senior Producer for both shows. We’re looking for someone to start ASAP. Compensation is based on experience and skillset and will be no less than $1,600 per week. This position does not provide health, retirement, or pension benefits. Please note, as these shows are topical and always on, some weeks may require some late nights or weekend hours.
Key Job Responsibilities: Talk Show Producer Responsibilities, 75% of your time:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the show, shepherding episodes from inception through the final mix
- Research on guests, tv episodes, projects, and topics
- Scripting outline for episodes
- Write interview questions for guests
- Write metadata and deliver episode to digital operations team weekly
- Establish framing, structure and tone for weekly episodes, in collaboration with executive producers, producers, and editors
- Give notes on all drafts of outlines and scripts
- Oversee editing process and work with the editor on all video and audio episodes
- QC all versions of episode audio and video (first cut, intermediary versions, and final version)
- Communicate, post and track deadlines on team Slack channel
- Track show calendar and deadlines - make sure all tasks are on track
- Work with producers and production management on the series calendar
- Work with host assistant on creative approvals
- Help to manage recording sessions
- Prepare and approve final edits and create docs for pickups sessions
- Insist on the highest standards for scripts, mixes and metadata.
- Story edit scripts for a clear three act structure and a compelling thematic arc.
- Provide both top-line notes and specific line edits/revisions
- Flagging and preparing potential marketing and social media assets
Rewatch Podcast Producer, 25% of your time:
- Write metadata
- Add notes to and QC all versions of episode audio (first cut, intermediary versions, and final version)
- Compile quotes for and create weekly supercut
- Assist the team in pre and post production
- Fact checking
- Deliver Wondery approved metadata and final assets for every episode via Airtable and Iconik
- Clear communication with hosts' assistant, editor, and Wondery production team
- Other admin tasks as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- 5 years experience producing a weekly show
- 2 - 3 years of experience writing for a pop culture based show in a conversational style and in the “voice” of established hosts
- Experience managing and prioritizing copious micro and macro day-to-day logistics of a weekly show
- Experience running recording sessions and directing talent
- Experience giving mix notes for shows with sound design
- Self-starter and excited to be a team player and leader
- Highly organized and deadline driven
- Excellent communication skills
