Overall
Wondery seeks to engage a Los Angeles based Associate Producer for a weekly talk video podcast that centers around black culture and pop culture. This role will collaborate with both internal and external content teams and play a key part in supporting the show’s day-to-day production processes. Compensation and Structure
This is a 1099 independent contractor position, with an anticipated start date ASAP. Estimated compensation for this position ranges from $1,300 to $1,500 per week. We anticipate this role will require 30 hours of work per week. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and skillset. This position does not provide benefits.
Key Job Responsibilities
Pre- Production:
- Develop guest pitches and conduct research; ideate episode concepts, games, and segment ideas
- Prepare preliminary episode outlines, thematic frameworks, and interview questions
- Fact-check all pre-production content
- Vet prospective guests, flagging potential controversies for approval and editorial consideration
- Flag and prepare marketing and ad-sales assets for inclusion in the run of show
- As needed, provide support to Producers on segment development
Production:
- Attend recording days in person; work remotely for pre- and post-production, as needed
- Support management of recording sessions, as needed
- Attend remote recording sessions via Riverside, as needed
Post-Production:
- Draft first-round of episode metadata for YouTube chapters
- QC all final episode versions, flagging any issues to Editor and Producers
- Pull thumbnails from final episodes and deliver assets to Wondery’s delivery and digital partners
- Confirm final YouTube chapters align with the baked-in ad version of the episode prior to delivery
- Upon receiving external approval for episode metadata, deliver the final metadata to the publishing team via Airtable for scheduling and launch
- Provide backup and fill-in support to the Post-Production Producer across Versions 1–4, aligned with the episode delivery schedule to ensure deadlines are met
Ongoing:
- Attend check-in meetings as needed
- Other admin tasks as needed
