ABOUT THE ROLE Tribeca is seeking a passionate, motivated, and experienced Audio Storytelling Curator. Reporting to the Festival Director, the role will program and plan Tribeca Festival’s expanding audio component. As an integral member of the audio team, the Curator will take the lead on selecting all content featured in the audio section at Tribeca Festival.
Bringing a seasoned approach to platforming fictional and nonfictional (both interview-driven and narrative-driven) podcasts, the Curator will take a hands-on approach to developing the present and future trajectory of Tribeca Festival’s audio section.
ABOUT YOU Our ideal candidate is articulate, collaborative and lives and breathes podcasting – personally and professionally. They have experience evaluating creative submissions and/or content programming experience. They have worked in radio or podcasting, and they know good narrative audio when they hear it. They have creative ideas for how to grow the audio section of the festival, relationships with the big podcast studios and radio producers, and interest in elevating the work of independent creators. They are excited about the idea of designing audio premieres, they can take constructive feedback, and they will ideate and work well with senior teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Put together a team to review podcast submissions.
- Oversee screening, evaluate submissions, and program Official Selection.
- Reach out to and work with podcast studios and radio producers to program a curated selection of special events.
- Assemble a jury to select award winners.
- Oversee and manage a team of screeners and a coordinator.
- Liaise with Tribeca’s production, partnership, marketing, and comms teams to bring the podcast section of the festival to life.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2-4 years experience working in audio.
- Content programming experience preferred; experience evaluating creative submissions acceptable.
- Experience managing a team under pressure.
- Familiarity with the festival landscape and knowledge of how film (and audio) festivals operate.
- Understanding of the audio industry and how to build a program designed to help independent podcast creators and showcase high-profile work.
- Ability to communicate clearly and constantly with teams via Slack and other collaboration tools.
