A full time Audio Engineer position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at The Lever.

Salary range: $60,000 to $85,000 (yearly rate) - subject to experience plus QSEHRA health reimbursement plan, office expense reimbursements, and paid time off.

About The Lever: The Lever is a reader-supported investigative news outlet dedicated to following the money and holding the powerful accountable. Founded in 2020 by journalist David Sirota and a team of reporters, The Lever has quickly attracted a robust following thanks to its in-depth investigations and uncompromising analyses of matters related to local and national politics, business corruption, the labor movement, climate change, health care, and more. With its fast-growing subscribership, The Lever is building a news organization devoted to holding power accountable.

The Position: The Lever is looking for a creative and enterprising podcast showrunner to develop and execute a reimagined weekly news/journalism-focused podcast that builds upon our existing podcast and reporting offerings and takes our audio efforts to the next level. For the right candidate, this is a major opportunity to implement an exciting new creative vision. The showrunner will reconceptualize The Lever’s weekly flagship political podcast, developing a bold new approach and voice that will help us reach a wider podcast audience. Depending on the job candidate and vision, the showrunner could work with the existing host or alternately be the host and/or co-host of the show.

The showrunner will then plan, write, produce, edit, and release the weekly podcast. The showrunner will also be responsible for planning and executing semi-regular chats and events that are streamed live to paying subscribers. Finally, the showrunner will work with our lead podcast producer to help expand our wider podcast network and build out a podcast sponsorship program. This is a fully remote and full-time, salaried position with benefits including a generous health care stipend, office expense reimbursements, and paid time off.
