The Cut Music

Executive Producer

A intern position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at The Cut Music.

Salary: $0 (yearly rate)

The Cut Music is an established music show with both audio and video content and we are looking for a passionate, organized, and creatively driven Executive Producer to join our team.

We currently have three employees — the show's hosts — and we're looking for the person who can help take everything happening behind the scenes to the next level. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the next stage of the show and have a meaningful hand in shaping where it goes.

Important: This is currently an unpaid growth-stage position, making the same amount as the current employees. As The Cut Music begins generating revenue, this position will begin generating compensation at a rate to be determined with possible ownership stakes in the company. We're looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about music, content creation, and building something rather than someone simply looking for a traditional production job.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As Executive Producer, you'll be responsible for helping manage the day-to-day production and growth of The Cut Music, including:

Editing weekly episodes through final execution.

Ensure short-form video clips are produced and posted daily across applicable platforms, including TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.

Maintain and manage the episode/content calendar.

Coordinate with artists, musicians, talent managers, agents and special guests to make sure they're prepared for recording.

Review guest hardware, software, and technical setups to ensure compatibility and recording quality, which will be through Riverside.FM.

Participate in production and strategy sessions with the hosts and Content Manager.

Help develop and execute strategies for audience growth, engagement, and content distribution.

Participate in recording sessions and assist from behind the scenes when appropriate.

Assist in sposorship outreach and campain rollouts.

Monitor live recordings/streams

Conduct fact-checking, research, information gathering, and other production support during episodes as the opportunities arise.

Identify trends and opportunities that can be translated into content for The Cut Music.

Help turn creative ideas into finished, publishable content.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is someone who:

Loves music and has a genuine interest in artists, musicians, and music culture.

Has an in-depth understanding of audio and video production.

Is experienced with video editing and post-production.

Has strong graphic design skills or a solid understanding of visual content.

Understands social media growth and content strategy, particularly on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.

Knows how to recognize trends and understand where content meets what audiences actually want to see.

Is extremely organized and capable of managing multiple moving pieces at once.

Enjoys executing an artistic vision while also bringing their own creative ideas to the table.

Is proactive, resourceful, and comfortable solving problems without needing constant direction.

Can work collaboratively with hosts, artists, guests, and other members of the production team.

YOUR CREATIVE FREEDOM

The Cut Music has an established identity and brand that we've built over the years. At the same time, we're not looking for someone to simply maintain the status quo.

The Executive Producer will have significant freedom to bring their own ideas, expertise, and creative perspective to the show. If you see an opportunity to improve the production, change how we approach social media, develop a new type of content, or take the show in an interesting direction, we want to hear it.

We want someone who sees the potential of what we're building and wants to make their mark on it. THIS COULD BE A GREAT FIT IF...

You thrive on creating how an audience experiences art, similar to producing music, or directing a movie, the art is captured by the performers, but you get to decide how best to present it, which is also a form of artistic expression.

Must not be easily offended. The three hosts are, in all honesty, Left leaning, but not to the point where we are overly sensored, and politics are never discussed in length on the show. But the show is hosted by musicians and former improvisors, meaning there is no script for what we are about to do.

We highly recommend watching a few clips and episodes to get an idea of how you would approach the role of Executive Producer. Do the three hosts seem like people would want to hang out with? Are there any consistent themes to our content that you think you can do better? If so, then get in touch with us!
