A part time Audio Engineer position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at SpokenLayer.
Salary range: $25.00 to $30.00 (hourly rate) - subject to experience

Who We Are: SpokenLayer is the leader in short form digital audio production. Each month, we produce thousands of 3-6 minute audio pieces for media companies such as Condé Nast, Time, Tribune and Hearst, as well as brands and advertisers such as General Mills, State Farm and Audible. Our unique audio content is distributed anywhere consumers can listen - via smart speakers, podcasting and streaming platforms, and the web. The Opportunity: SpokenLayer’s publisher team provides white-glove audio services to a wide array of publishers, from news outlets to digital media companies. Our services are flexible to suit the needs of publisher’s audio strategies’, ranging from article narration to full-service podcast development.
We are looking for a Publisher Producer who will directly support our Publisher business by QAing, mixing, and mastering podcast episodes. As a Publisher Producer, you will work closely with voice actors, editors, and producers to create high quality audio content. A successful candidate will demonstrate audio engineering excellence, a collaborative work style, and a passion for great audio!
Current Available Shifts: Saturdays
- 6:30AM - 9:30AM ET
- 4PM - 7PM ET
- 10PM - 1AM ET Sundays
- 6:30AM - 9:30AM ET
Responsibilities:
- Organize and distribute show materials such as scripts, metadata, and stems
- Collaborate with voice artists to ensure the accuracy and quality of our audio recordings
- Edit audio for accuracy, pacing, and tone
- Mix music and SFX, maintaining consistency across episodes
- Publish episodes using our internal CMS and/or external publishing tools, staying on top of deadlines
- Communicate with internal and external partners when needed, keeping stakeholders informed of any production issues, workflow updates, etc.
- Work with team Director to continue to grow in your craft, fostering SpokenLayer’s environment of collaboration and execution excellence
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of audio production experience in podcast or audiobook production with a keen ear for comping takes and enhancing voiceover quality
- Expertise in a linear DAW with MIDI capabilities, such as Pro Tools, Ableton, or Logic Pro X
- Highly effective and dynamic communicator with demonstrated client-facing experience; comfortable leading internal and external communication from creative ideation and pitch through execution
- Outstanding ability to work independently and with a team; must be an organized and confident self-starter able to autonomously manage workflow and deadlines, as well as an open-minded and generous creative collaborator
