About SoundCartel
SoundCartel is a full-service audio and podcast agency. Established in 1984 by acclaimed journalist and broadcaster, the late Michael Schildberger, SoundCartel has a reputation for producing the highest-quality audio and podcast production.
As well as our own podcast, ‘Business Essentials’, we produce dozens of podcasts for Australia’s leading brands in various industries, including medical, professional services, financial, government, software, community & social services, automotive and even spicy content.
We’re a small, tightknit, collaborative team, with traditionally very low turnover. We have our own state-of-the-art recording studio and sound-proof booth.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced podcast producer to join our team in a part-time role, with the potential to move to full-time. You'll work on a variety of shows – both client projects and our in-house podcast Business Essentials – and be involved in every stage of the production process, from concept development to publishing.
This role is ideal for someone who loves storytelling, understands podcast workflows, and can balance creativity with strong organisation.
What You'll Do Business Essentials Podcast
- Research and pitch story ideas
- Approach and book guests
- Prepare interview questions
- Record interviews (in studio and remotely)
- Write and record scripts
- Content edit audio (with support from our head of audio for final mix and master)
- Draft social media copy for each episode
Client Podcasts
- Liaise directly with clients to manage and produce podcast projects
- Develop and manage production schedules
- Help coordinate recording sessions (hosts and guests)
- Write episode briefs, interview questions, and scripts
- Conduct or support interviews as needed (including hosting when required)
- Perform content edits before final audio mix
- Assist with launch and ongoing episode releases
- Create case studies and client wrap-ups
General
- Collaborate with the wider team across multiple projects
- Share knowledge, ideas, and feedback openly
- Keep learning and growing with us (the industry’s evolving fast!)
What We’re Looking For
- Strong project and time management skills
- Excellent writing, research, and editorial judgement
- Outstanding experience with podcast planning, scripting, and producing
- Comfortable using DAWs for content editing (Pro Tools is a plus)
- Confident working with clients and stakeholders of all levels
- A genuine passion for podcasting and audio storytelling
- Background in journalism, media, or broadcasting is a plus, but not essential
- A positive, proactive mindset with a collaborative approach
