Rain Delay Media is hiring a Senior Video Editor to serve as the creative and editorial lead for a Jalen Rose video podcast across long-form and short-form. This is a senior, hands-on creative role that will originate and own the show’s editorial style and quality, make creative-cut decisions, and lead and develop a small editing team as the show scales.
ABOUT COMPANY:
Rain Delay Media is an award-winning production company powering sports' biggest athletes and creators across YouTube, podcasts and social media, including Road Trippin' with Richard Jefferson, Kickin' It with Deestroying and Club 30 with Henrik Lundqvist. Same Page Entertainment is a Detroit-based multi-media production company founded by Jalen Rose and Tom Gores focused on celebrating the rich culture, creativity, history, and talent found in Detroit and across Michigan.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Editorial Leadership & Post-Production Ownership
- Serve as the primary editor and editorial lead for all of the show’s episodes, delivering 30–90-minute final cuts that meet the show’s quality, tone, and pacing standards optimized for YouTube.
- Own the show end-to-end post-production workflow for all long-form episodes — from raw ingest and assembly through lock, audio mix, color, and final export — ensuring consistent quality across every release.
- Establish and maintain show post-production workflows, naming conventions, file-management systems, and quality-control standards across the team, and ensure all deliverables meet platform-specific technical specs and release deadlines.
- Manage show music licensing, sound design, and archival/third-party footage usage in accordance with applicable clearance and licensing requirements.
Editing Team Leadership
- Direct and supervise the full show editing team assigning work, setting priorities and standards, and reviewing cuts.
- Develop and elevate the team through constructive creative feedback, mentorship, and clear quality expectations.
- Provide recommendations on show hiring, role changes, and performance for the editing team and engaged editorial contractors.
- Produce and deliver show audio-optimized edits for full podcast distribution across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all major audio platforms.
Graphics, Visual Identity & Packaging
- Collaborate on show motion graphics, lower thirds, thumbnail templates, title sequences, cold-open formats, and segment graphics — executing and evolving the show’s visual identity system in line with the creative direction and brand guidelines.
- Monitor show performance analytics in partnership with the Digital Producer — retention, click-through, engagement, and platform-specific signals — and apply data-driven insights to continuously optimize the editing approach, clip selection, and format experimentation, informing thumbnail and packaging recommendations.
Studio & On-Location
- Support Supervising Producer participating in post and studio systems and operations alongside technical vendors.
- Serve as show editorial point of contact for on-location and road production shoots, traveling and coordinating to ensure field footage is captured, logged, and turned around on deadline.
Stakeholder & Talent Partnership
- Provide thoughtful, constructive feedback and industry best practices to executive producers and talent on content and digital presence, offered as input and recommendations within the creative direction.
- Build relationships with, and become a trusted partner to, the client and talent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of professional video editing, including both long-form (YouTube) and short-form (Shorts, Reels, TikTok), ideally for podcasts, sports, or digital-creator content.
- Mastery of video editing and software, and strong audio fundamentals.
- Demonstrated creative leadership and experience managing or directing other editors.
- Excellent storytelling, pacing, and an instinct for what performs on YouTube and social.
- Clear, confident communicator who can work across teams — Detroit-based talent and crew, remote editors and executives, brand partners, etc.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends when the production calendar demands it
- Genuine passion for sports, culture, and what Detroit represents
- Existing relationships in Detroit’s media, music, or sports community
- Self-directed with strong problem-solving abilities
- Reliable transportation to studio location
