ABOUT THE ROLE
Associate Producers are critical to a team’s success, from the earliest stages of development through the completion of a project, and as such, they are expected to multi-task. We are looking for a strong researcher and producer to work on two projects: a weekly current affairs show and a narrative series about how American history informs contemporary society.
The best candidate for this role will be highly organized and able to work independently. This position requires excellent research skills and a familiarity with Pro Tools. The associate producer should also have great people skills, with patience for booking around busy and changing schedules of both hosts and guests. This role will be based in Los Angeles, CA or New York, NY.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research episode topics and develop background documents for hosts and producers
- Research and gather archival materials, ambient sound, and scene tape
- Identify and book guests for interviews, prepare interview preps and questions
- Book guests and hosts for interviews and tracking sessions
- Coordinate and run recording sessions
- Assemble rough drafts of Pro Tools sessions, including pulling clips from raw tape and cutting tracking sessions
- Fact check episodes as needed
- Manage show files
- Maintain production spreadsheet, which includes show summaries, episode text, production schedule (airdates), and booking details.
- Work with the marketing team to gather materials needed for marketing/promotion.
- Attend production and editorial meetings
- Lend general editorial feedback throughout the production process
- Lend general administrative support to all producers and production teams
SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Deep research experience
- Experience with Pro Tools
- Experience booking high profile guests
- Ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline and work across geographically-dispersed teams
- 2-4 years of media experience
- At least 2 years in podcast production
- Excellent writing and communication skills
This is a part-time contract position, working two to three days a week, based in Los Angeles, CA or New York, NY.
The day rate is $350/day
