About One Decision
One Decision is a geopolitics interview show anchored by Sir Richard Dearlove, former chief of MI6, alongside co-host John Raine. We publish on YouTube and the major podcast platforms, featuring conversations with leading figures in politics, intelligence, business and international affairs.
Past guests include Boris Johnson, David Petraeus, Mohamed El-Erian, Fareed Zakaria, Geoffrey Hinton and Christiane Amanpour.
We’re looking for a reliable freelance video editor to turn excerpts from our long-form interviews into polished, engaging YouTube Shorts.
The role
You’ll create vertical clips, generally 30–90 seconds long, using detailed briefs supplied by our editorial team. We provide the episode, exact timestamps, opening hooks, headline copy and visual direction. You bring the editing skills, design judgment and attention to detail to make each clip work.
The format should be straightforward and efficient to produce once the initial template is established.
What you will do

Cut the specified excerpts and assemble strong openings using the supplied hooks.

Reframe interview footage into vertical 9:16, keeping speakers well positioned.

Create split-screen openings combining the speaker, a relevant photograph and a bold headline.

Find suitable, high-quality photographs yourself, following the brief and checking that the people and events shown are correct.

Add accurate, well-timed word-by-word captions, including correct spelling of names, places and specialist terms.

Apply consistent typography, colours and simple graphic treatments.

Check audio, pacing and visual quality, then deliver upload-ready files.

Incorporate one consolidated round of revisions per clip.

Image sourcing is included in the editing fee. Any paid image licences must be approved separately before purchase.
What we need

A portfolio of strong YouTube Shorts, Reels or similar vertical videos, ideally drawn from interviews or podcasts.

Good visual judgment: clean layouts, readable captions and effective image selection.

Confidence with basic graphic design and simple motion graphics.

Excellent English and close attention to accuracy.

The ability to follow a detailed brief, meet agreed deadlines and communicate clearly.

Sound editorial judgment when editing discussions of politics and international affairs.
Helpful but not required

Experience working with news, current affairs or factual content.

An interest in geopolitics.

Experience building reusable editing and graphics templates.
