The Senior Producer will have a love for great audio storytelling and possess a hunger for doing projects that break new ground in the podcast landscape. You will have both the ability to understand the vision for and take a leadership role in the projects we produce as well as bring fresh thinking to guide their development and creation. You need to be able to be discreet and deeply empathetic as this job delves into the issues of the heart of many listeners.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
This is not an entry level position. It is a senior leadership and editorial position.
This role will start as a full-time temporary role, forecasted to last six months at 32-40 hours per week, though this position may become permanent full time. This position is benefits eligible.
The Senior Producer is a key role on a small team at Magnificent Noise who together have produced this show for the past eight years. Top candidates for this role will demonstrate curiosity, a strong work ethic, exceptional journalistic and storytelling instincts, and exercise creativity in their production technique. The role requires a creative and inclusive approach to storytelling–someone who can shape the vision and execution of ambitious podcast projects. The ideal candidate is a talented leader that others want to follow, as well as a writer/storyteller who has a proven track record for producing high-quality narrative content, innovation, problem-solving, and is experienced working in a deadline-oriented environment. The Senior Producer reliably creates original and enterprising work in every episode and project they produce.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hold a leadership role on the podcast. Lead editorial planning of podcast, including outlining program elements, and selection/booking of contributors and guests. Responsible for setting production timelines and running a team that delivers projects on time and on budget. Lead the project team to produce and edit interviews and segments. Mentor colleagues with grace and a generosity of spirit. Collaborate with other producers and editors at Magnificent Noise and our creative partners to ensure the depth and breadth of Magnificent Noise’s production and storytelling aesthetics and standards. “Think deep” and produce work that needs to exist in the world. Oversee the booking of contributors, guests, and interviews, as well as managing recording logistics, remote studio recordings, and location management. Deep listening skills required to screen potential couples and guests for the series. Record interviews and ambience at on-location recordings and train staff on recording equipment, proper microphone selection and selection and placement, and how to get “great tape.” Edit segments and can edit and manipulate digital audio lay-ups. Coordinate all aspects of production, post-production, and program distribution. Video editing experiences are a plus. Other duties as assigned.
LOCATION
This producer needs to live in the greater New York area working a hybrid combination of at home, in our Manhattan office, and on-location with our production partner.
Requirements NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
At least 5-7+ years of radio/audio production and thorough knowledge of writing and audio production Management experience, especially management of creative people doing creative work. Deep interest and knowledge in a wide range of subject areas. Knowledge of podcasting and digital audio industry. Must have a strong understanding of how to operate audio and video hardware, software, and facilities. Demonstrated writing ability. Demonstrated digital editing expertise using ProTools, Descript, and Premier Pro. Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Thrives in a team-focused environment, and understands how to balance competing priorities from multiple stakeholders. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Benefits The salary band for a Senior Producer at Magnificent Noise is $125,000 USD to $160,000 USD. This position is also eligible for benefits and 401k matching.
