BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Associate Producer is a critical role on a small team at Magnificent Noise to produce a new podcast called If/Then in partnership with the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

This role is temporary part-time role and forecasted to last five months at 20 hours per week.

Top candidates for this role will demonstrate curiosity, a strong work ethic, strong journalistic and storytelling instincts, and exercise creativity in their production technique. The role requires a creative and inclusive approach to storytelling who can shape the vision and execution of ambitious podcast projects. The ideal candidate is a talented writer/storyteller who has a proven track record for producing high-quality narrative content, innovation, problem-solving and is experienced working in a deadline-oriented environment. The Associate Producer reliability creates original and enterprising work in every episode and project they produce.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in editorial planning of podcast episodes, including outlining program elements, and selection of contributors and guests. Works as part of a team to produce and edit audio tape, stories, and segments. Collaborates with other producers and editors at Magnificent Noise and our partners to ensure the depth and breadth of Magnificent Noise’s production and storytelling aesthetics and standards. Ability to “think deep” and produce work that goes beyond conventional expectations. Book contributors, guests, and interviews, as well as handle recording logistics and remote studio and location management. Record interviews and ambience at on-location recordings. Operate recording equipment, know and practice proper mic placement, and have an exceptional ear for “good tape.” Edit audio segments and do basic digital audio lay-up. Coordinates some aspects of production, post-production, and program distribution. Other duties as assigned. LOCATION

Our preference for this position is for someone from the greater Bay Area working a hybrid combination of at home and on-site at Stanford University. We are also willing to consider a fully remote candidate with exceptional skill.

EXPECTED SALARY RANGE

The salary band for an Associate Producer at Magnificent Noise is $65,000 to $85,000. This translates into an hourly rate for this position of $31.25 to $40.86.

Requirements

At least 3+ years of podcast production and thorough knowledge of writing and audio production. Deep interest and knowledge in a wide range of subject areas. Knowledge of podcasting and digital audio industry. Must have a strong understanding of how to operate audio hardware, software, and facilities. Demonstrated writing ability. Demonstrated digital editing expertise using Descript audio editing software. Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Thrives in a team-focused environment. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Benefits
