Marketing Specialist
A full time position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at Macmillan Publishers.
Macmillan is seeking an inspired, creative Marketing Specialist with a passion for podcasts to join the fast-growing Quick and Dirty Tips podcast network. The ideal candidate will be energized by the challenge of writing pitches and copy that encapsulate the spirit of our content and finding the right marketing channels to ensure audience growth. This person should be a self-starter with good instincts, bold ideas, and an enthusiastic spirit.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, monitor and report on marketing campaigns across multiple channels to connect with audiences around the world.
- Arrange cross-promotional ad swaps with other podcast networks based on research into the best, most relevant comps.
- Write catchy, compelling copy for social media and email newsletters to connect deeply with highly engaged listeners.
- Create and execute publicity plans in support of new podcasts and special network milestones, including researching reporters on relevant beats and writing and distributing press releases.
- Seek out and arrange advantageous in-house promotional strategies to promote Macmillan titles and other Quick and Dirty Tips podcasts on our own channels.
- Be a friendly and communicative partner to our contacts at podcast distribution apps and other marketing partners, maintaining healthy relationships with regular touchpoints to ensure we stay top-of-mind.
- Conduct audience surveys in order to serve as the team’s expert on our audiences—who they are, why they listen, and how we can speak their language and keep them engaged.
Ideal qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in digital marketing and/or publicity for podcasts with demonstrated success
- Ability to monitor campaigns to determine success, making changes when necessary to optimize results
- Fluency in social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram
- Comprehensive understanding of the podcast industry and its marketing and promotional channels (podcast listening apps, comparable shows at other networks, etc)
- Comfort with fast-paced deadlines and an ability to be fluid with shifting priorities
