ABOUT LATENT SPACE
Latent Space is a leading podcast, newsletter, and community dedicated to artificial intelligence engineering, attracting tens of thousands of engineers, founders, and executives each week. We dive deep into the technical, strategic, and cultural shifts in AI engineering, featuring interviews with the builders and founders shaping the field. Past guests include leaders from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and a16z, and the podcast consistently ranks in the Apple US Tech top 30–50.
We are looking for our first Writer/Researcher to help us expand our content capacity, focusing on the depth, consistency, and refinement of our podcast, newsletter, and social media.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Episode Preparation (Core): Research guest backgrounds, prior work, and context; draft prep docs with suggested questions, key themes, and competitive landscape analysis
- Show Notes (Core): Write clear, engaging, and timestamped notes; add links, references, and context so each episode becomes a valuable resource
- Deep-Dive Articles (Core): Turn podcast episodes into comprehensive, blog-style write-ups that capture the full conversation with clarity and depth; occasionally create standalone, research-driven essays on major AI topics (comparisons, surveys, explainers)
- Content Extensions (Core): Support social media amplification (threads, LinkedIn posts, pull quotes); track trends, research papers, startups, and memes for timely content
QUALIFICATIONS
- Writing & Research: Strong ability to distill complex technical topics into clear, engaging prose
- Curiosity & Taste: Broad reading across the AI space, with judgment to separate real advances from hype
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple content pieces with consistency and attention to detail
- Technical Acumen: 1–2 years of software engineering (or related) experience, with strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and trends
- Preferred: Previous bylines or publications (blogs, newsletters, podcast notes, technical writing); media production experience (YouTube, podcasts, newsletters) Personal Attributes: Collaborative, friendly, with creativity and humor that energizes the show
ROLE DETAILS
- Location: San Francisco or remote (equally welcome)
- Hours: Contract, part-time retainer; potential to ramp to full-time. This role focuses on the consistent completion of key deliverables each month
- Compensation: Paid a monthly retainer, with a clear rate tied to specific deliverables (e.g., episode prep documents, show notes, blog write-ups, and social media content)
