Intelligence Squared (IQ2) is the leading forum for live debates, talks and events, and also works with premium global brands to produce podcasts and events end to end.
We are looking for an Assistant Producer to join the partnerships team, reporting to the Senior Partnerships Producer and the COO.
This role combines creative and commercial work, delivering end-to-end content for partners, from events and podcasts to amplification across sectors like the arts, clean energy and luxury. The ideal candidate has some experience in a creative role, ideally in audio, podcast or radio production. This could be professional, but if you can demonstrate potential and passion this could also be work you’ve undertaken in your own time. More than hard skills, we are looking for people with the right attitude and soft skills; you’ll be someone who is brimming with creative ideas and looking for an environment where you can run. But you’ll also be obsessed with the details, with a mindset focused on incremental improvements and an understanding that creativity cannot occur without robust logistics and workflows.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Working with the partnerships team to deliver podcasts, events and amplification for our global brand partners
- Assisting end-to-end production of podcasts and ads; including planning, recording, editing and uploading
- Writing basic copy, such as cues, episode descriptions and episode titles
- Suggesting and reaching out to guests, taking ownership of the booking process
- Arranging logistics of scheduling, travel and production for guests, freelancers or production team members
- Working with our advertising partners to write copy and deliver impactful host reads
- Basic editing on a variety of interesting podcasts, with the opportunity to work on more complex projects
- Working on the execution of branded events, including venue booking, guest outreach, and scripting questions
- Assisting with budgeting; processing invoices, and tracking expenses related to branded work and operations
What You Could Be Doing: This role is perfect for someone looking to grow in many areas, and who wants to be in an environment where you are encouraged and supported to grab opportunities. While not core responsibilities of the role, here are some areas you could be involved in:
- Working with the marketing team to understand social media and our audience
- Chance to pitch topic or guest ideas for the editorial podcast, producing them end-to-end with the assistance of an executive producer
- Developing more complex narrative scripting skills
- Attending in studio recordings and assisting in live editorial production
- Ideation and creation of pitch decks for clients
- The basics of client management and taking ownership of certain projects
- Assisting the events production team on the logistics and planning of editorial events, where capacity is needed*
Who You’ll Be:
- A highly creative person who loves coming up with ideas and thinking out of the box
- Someone with the ability to remain calm under pressure, enjoying working collaboratively to find solutions
- Attention to detail and able to manage multiple responsibilities at one time
- Ambitious, with an insatiable desire to learn, develop and grow, and the ability to take your own initiative to do so
- Confidence to take control of the schedules of more senior team members
- Passionate about the possibilities of podcasting and storytelling, particularly in the way it relates to brands and advertising, and plugged in technological developments
- An ability to understand the core of a brand, their audience, and their tone to deliver work that suits that
Requirements:
- At least one year’s experience (FT, PT or freelance) in a creative industry in any capacity, preferably audio production
- One year of audio editing or production in either a professional or voluntary capacity
- Basic video editing experience, or a desire and ability to learn
- The ability to work with high profile talent in a professional manner
- Experience with production planning, and the ability to spot cracks in an effective workflow and swiftly make tweaks
- An interest in the business and world of audio, with opinions on how to push boundaries in formats and storytelling
- Interest in both big picture creative and operational logistics, and someone who understands one cannot happen without the other
What We Can Offer:
- £29 – 32k dependent on experience
- Flexible working, currently two days in London office and three days remote, subject to change at the company’s discretion
- 25 days’ paid holiday, in addition to usual public holidays
- Company Pension Scheme
- Free tickets to Intelligence Squared events
