Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at Flatbush Cats.
Salary range: $75.00 to $100.00 (hourly rate) - subject to experience
Job Overview We are seeking a versatile Podcast Producer and Co-Host to lead the production of a new limited podcast series centering around animal welfare and advocacy. Through deep reporting, we will be identifying and addressing the roots of the problems in the animal welfare system, explaining why these systems are misleading and how we can tackle the challenges with upstream solutions.
This is an opportunity to help in the development and launch of a new podcast series and shed light on issues that impact individuals and families from all walks of life.
Role is hybrid, but candidates must reside/work from the New York City Metro Area.

Responsibilities:
- Book, produce, record, and edit an original podcast series
- Research topics to ensure content accuracy and relevance
- Ensure strong journalistic ethics and fact-checking processes throughout production
- Outline episodes to create a clear narrative structure
- Lead on scripting to maintain a consistent voice across all episodes
- Prepare, plan, and conduct interviews with experts in the field
- Identify opportunities to include audio elements and coordinate their production
- Collaborate with organization leadership to develop overall show tone and style
- Help to establish a compelling audio style and narrative voice for Flatbush Cats
- Act as co-host with organization’s founder
- Must be comfortable with being on camera - podcast has video component
Qualifications:
- Is a talented and multifaceted producer and narrative storyteller with at least three years of audio-production experience
- Has an established creative sensibility and a track record of developing and producing great audio storytelling in a newsroom, production company, studio or elsewhere
- Strong editorial values, creative judgment, and storytelling instincts along with innovative audio sensibilities as well as high editorial standards and journalism ethics
- Has experience working with complex and sensitive topics
- Experience working with mixing boards and other equipment, including mic technique in a variety of recording environments.
- DAWs open to applicants preference/recommendation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Collaborative spirit with strong attention to detail, organizational and project management skills
- Ability to capture audio with video in the field nice, but not necessary
- Willingness to work some early mornings, nights, and weekends to report stories from the community
- Has an understanding of trends and audience engagement strategies
- Passionate about animal welfare—both pets and New Yorkers—with a desire to develop a deep understanding of the issues causing overcrowded animal shelters and lack of affordable access to veterinary care
