Editorial Director
A full time Editorial Director position at Dear Media, West Hollywood CA, USA
Salary range: $100,000 to $120,000 (yearly rate) - subject to experience plus medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k)
About this Position: Dear Media is seeking an experienced Editorial Director to lead our team and oversee our content strategy. As the Editorial Director, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining our editorial standards, ensuring that all content aligns with our brand voice, and identifying new opportunities for growth. You should have a strong understanding of the digital media, news and storytelling landscape and be able to provide guidance to our team of writers and editors. You will work closely with Dear Media’s Senior Leadership team, external partners, and internal departments to ensure a consistent and engaging brand voice.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee editorial strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals and audience.
- Ensure all content is accurate, engaging, and aligns with brand voice.
- Lead and manage a team of writers and editors. Provide guidance on editorial standards, tone, and voice to maintain consistency across all content.
- Oversee the editorial calendar, ensuring timely production and publication of content, Coordinate with various departments to align on business initiatives.
- Edit up to 10+ stories per day across all platforms.
- Produce high quality written content daily on dearmedia.com
- Create and send editorially curated emails
- Stay up-to-date on latest digital media trends and incorporate into editorial strategy
- Understand audience behavior and needs, to ensure the company is serving the best target audiences.
- Identify new opportunities for growth and audience development
- Develop and maintain relationships with key industry influencers and thought leaders
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in digital media with at least 3 years in a senior editorial role
- Proven track record of developing successful content strategies
- Experience overseeing multi-platform content from brainstorm to execution, while keeping up with daily deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership and management experience
- Deep understanding of SEO and analytics
- Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices in social media marketing
