Role Summary
The Manager of Media Strategy & Growth is responsible for hiring and managing the outputs of the in-house and third-party production and media operations team in our sub-brands (BiggerPockets Real Estate, Real Estate Rookie, BiggerPockets Money, BiggerStays, PassivePockets, and On the Market). This role implements the podcast, youtube, and social media content aligned with the Head of Content. We’re looking for an editorial-minded leader to manage the overarching editorial calendar and its outputs across the content team, facilitate the best practices for media production—especially on YouTube-first production assets—and assist in the launch strategy for new audience development or potential M&A opportunities.
The right person for this role has a keen eye for audience development opportunities, has proven growth in youtube views or podcast unique listeners, understands how to utilize advertising revenue and partnerships to drive media production and sales inventory, an obsession with media industry news, can manage a large production budget closely, and manage people well in a collaborative team of podcast, social, and youtube creators in the real estate space.
Key Responsibilities
* Management & Coaching
- Lead a team in YouTube and Podcast production best practices to drive clear growth in views, downloads, and advertising revenue
- Work with producers and creators to shape shows from pre-production through post, providing specific feedback and direction along the way
* Metrics
- Use the data we have available to track and share KPIs on social, youtube, and podcast metrics on a regular basis
- Understand the revenue and costs at play in any given content piece published, including advertising or website traffic revenue to costs of production, creative, and marketing and report on results to the Head of Content regularly
* Content Strategy
- Work closely with the rest of the content team and advertising sales team to design a comprehensive content strategy for podcasts and related youtube video, from guests to themes to segments and formats, as well as calendars and workflows to support execution of top-down, multi-stream content direction
- Builds, manages, and maintains the Editorial Calendar, utilizing advertising revenue, SEO topics, business product launches, and topical tentpoles to build the right narratives for our audience on each channel
* Syndications
- Work with our third-party PR team to drive podcast swaps, content syndications, guest swaps, or utilizing our creative talent as guests on other platforms to drive audience development
