A full time Director position at BBC Studios, London, UK

Salary: £153,000 (yearly rate)

BBC Studios is a commercial subsidiary of the BBC Group. Able to take an idea seamlessly from thought to screen and beyond, the business is built on four pillars: a global Content Studio (producing, investing and distributing content globally); Channels & Streaming platforms in the UK and across the world; a Brands & Licencing operation which seeks to amplify the impact of IP; and the successful UK-based multi-channel network UKTV. Around 2,400 hours of award-winning British programmes are made by the business every year, with three-quarters of its revenues from non-BBC customers including Disney, Apple and Netflix. Its content is internationally recognised across a broad range of genres and specialisms, with brands like Strictly Come Dancing/Dancing with the Stars, Top Gear, Bluey and Doctor Who. BBC.com, BBC Studios’ global digital news platform, has 139 million unique browser visits each month.

BBC Studios Productions is a global content powerhouse creating widely popular and commercially successful titles across an extraordinary range of genres and specialisms. With 8 UK production bases and a further 9 production bases or partnerships internationally - we’re the UK’s most commissioned producer of new content. We house the world’s leading Factual production studio and the UK’s leading premium Scripted portfolio. Our structure (Scripted, Factual, Global Formats Group and Kids & Family) and strategy delivers global hits to the BBC and our growing range of global and local third-party clients. We’re the UK’s most awarded producer and quality is our kitemark.

This key role will lead a new Audio Unit designed to drive the creative and commercial ambition of audio production, targeting BBC Sounds, UK speech radio and the global audio market. With a focus on ‘built speech’ in drama, factual and entertainment, the Unit will give talented audio producers access to the biggest possible audiences. The unit will work in partnership with existing BBCS genre teams and with BBCS Global Distribution (GD) to develop valuable Group IP and open up new routes to market for BBC content.
