Associate Producer, Podcast

Quick Take: Axios is a growth-stage startup dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring an Associate Producer for our new podcast!
Why it Matters: The Associate Producer will help launch and produce our newest podcast by supporting our Senior Producer and the entire audio team. This role will have a hand in the entire production process, from ideation to publishing.
Go Deeper: This role carries the following responsibilities:
- Support our Senior Producer and audio team as needed
- Researching, fact checking and gathering archival materials
- Interviewing and/or pre-interviewing sources
- Gathering ambience and other scene tape
- Booking guests and stringers
- Prepping tape for table reads
- Putting together rough mixes of episodes in ProTools
- Attending and sometimes running the board for studio recording sessions
- Preparing scripts for legal vetting
- Creating and maintaining production spreadsheets including show summaries, production schedule (airdates), and other key milestones
- Lending general editorial feedback throughout the editorial process
- Attend creative calls with development and production teams and clients
The Details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios’ mission and have the following skills:
- Audio experience; understanding of the podcast landscape and a sense of how to innovate within that landscape
- 3-4 years regular show production experience using ProTools (or willingness to leave your current DAW behind and learn PT)
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Highest standards for journalistic integrity and ethics
- Ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline and work across geographically-dispersed teams
