Comedy Podcast Co-Host
A part time Co-Host position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at AUXORO.
Salary range: $20.00 to $30.00 (hourly rate) - subject to experience
Fully Remote: working with a team based in Brooklyn, NY.
Pay: $20-30 per hour + a percentage of future Pateon earnings.
Role: AUXORO Studios is seeking a co-host for a weekly comedy podcast called The AUX. Currently, this is a solo show hosted by myself (Zach),and I am looking for a co-host make the show come alive in ways that just aren’t possible with a single host.
An ideal co-host is someone who leverages humor and sarcasm to put a creative spin on the top stories spanning pop culture (entertainment, politics, tech), and uses that creativity give a hilarious take on those stories.
Also, if we are going to host a weekly show together, we should probably have similar comedic boundaries. This doesn’t mean we need to think the same (On the contrary, I actually prefer that you think quite differently than me which makes the show better) but if you find podcasts like The Tim Dillon Show, Legion of Skanks, and The Adam Friedland Show offensive, then you and I most likely won’t be a good match.
The format of the show up to this point has been as follows: I choose 3 stories that have been in the news within the past week or so. For example, this week I might talk about Kanye making an IG post on Jonah Hill, TikTok CEO testifying in front of congress, and the FDA making narcan available over the counter. Then, I sit down and brainstorm what I believe to be a funny/unique take on those situations (which is almost never the obvious take) and then I riff on each topic for 10-15 min. It’s not a formally scripted show, but I do keep a few bullet points in front of me.
With a co-host, the show would be a completely collaborative process and we’d each come in with 1-2 stories ready to talk about for the weekly episode. A good co-host is someone who isn’t afraid to lean in to their point of view, thinks beyond the obvious take, and enjoys exploring the funnier side of some of the more serious issues going on in the world. Nothing would be off limits to this person. You also have a strong wifi connection because we will be recording episodes each week (audio and video) over Riverside.
Between preparing for the show and recording, you can expect a time commitment of 2-3 hours per week. You’ll receive $20-30 for each episode we record plus an agreed upon percentage of future Patreon earnings from bonus episodes. As the show makes more money, we both do. If you are not familiar with Patreon, this is a place where hosts put some of their podcasts behind a paywall and charge subscribers a certain amount per month to access these episodes.
